I have done a fresh install of UbuntuGnome 14.04 - 64 bit on Dell Vostro 3500 laptop with nvidia card NVIDIA Corporation GT218M [GeForce 310M]. I previously had 12.04 / 12.10/ 13.10 without any issues.
I am facing issue of blank screen on login when using nouveau driver. On booting from LiveUSB it works just fine. I have tried nvidia drivers as well instead of nouveau - including nvidia-331, nvidia-331-updates, nvidia-304. I have tried both with and without nvidia-prime.
I am able to login in the recovery mode in graphic UI though.
I have tried many different solutions on internet, some suggest purging nvidia packages while other suggest installing nvidia-331[-updates]. None seem to have worked for me. I face similar issue when installing Ubuntu (with Unity), so it is not specific to UbuntuGnome.
I get a blank screen with unresponsive keyboard and mouse. I cannot even do Ctrl+Alt+F1 to fo to console. Any help in this regards is very much appreciated.
