Dual boot linus mint. Ubuntu 14.04 wont reconize the usb boot from grub2 menu.

I have successfully done exactly what im trying to do on my desktop on my laptop. Im using a customized desktop that may bot have the same specs as the laptop, When I get into grub holding the shift key it doesnt show my linux mint usb boot. not sure on how to get it to appear.

Do you have the USB memory stick with Linux on it plugged into a USM port when you update the grub configuration file from Ubuntu? Does the terminal printout show Linux Mint on that memory stick?

Plug in the stick and run this command:
sudo update-grub
