Ubuntu novice here.
I installed Mythbuntu from the CD, rebooted the machine, on the first boot of the OS I ran the update manager. It looked like progress was being made, after 10 minutes screensaver came on, now the "Applying changes" and "Update Manager" windows crashed. I look at the process by entering $ ps -alt and it shows a few running, but I have no idea how far in the process it is. Is there a soft way to kill update manager and rerun it. This happened to me last night and I just rebooted but grub never loaded and had to reinstall this morning. Thanks.
