I am looking to host a webinar, but I don't have a lot of funds. I was thinking about using Google hangout, but am not super familiar with how it works.

Has anybody used Google hangout for a webinar? If so, what do you like / dislike?

Are there any other programs that I could use?

Con: It uses google, so everyone is forced to be tracked by google to attend. If you don't set it up with an anonymous youtube live feed, then they must have a google account to attend too.

There are other options, but I don't think any are free after the 1st 30 days. My company uses one - sorry - I can't recall the name but it isn't any of the big names (which aren't cross-platform). It is cross platform and does NOT use java. They have a custom Linux app.

I have not heard of Moodle before, I'll have to look into that a bit more.

I have already used my free trial of Go To Webinar, which was fantastic just not worth the money.

mikogo is what we use. https://www.mikogo.com

BBB (Big Blue Button) http://bigbluebutton.org/ is a 100% F/LOSS solution - but it lacked a pretty front-end last time I looked at it. It is hard to setup, so getting a pre-built env through a VM is what most people do. The person running the webinar must have java. Everyone else needs flash.

Hope this helps. Please post back what you decide to go with.

I was hoping to find a program that would allow viewers to submit questions throughout the presentation. So far, it looks like Google Hangout may be the only option.

Most of these allow a "chat" session - use that for questions - or use some other out-of-band method like er .... email.

Moodle is used by many universities and an active forum , so I am sure you can get help in setting it up and exploring it.

Hi,
You may try this software, I didn't buy it yet but I know it is a good one and very simple to use according to my fellows, and it is a one time payment - under $100 :
