How Broadband is configured in ubuntu 8.4

Please help me as I am messed up to configure broadband in ubuntu. I tried sudo pppoeconf but a error is showing that another program is using the ethernet as i also have win 7 on my desktop and broadband is configured on it. please help.

Your problem cannot be anything to do with Windows 7 as Windows 7 is not loaded at the same time as Ubuntu. Unless you installed Ubuntu inside of Windows using Wubi.exe. Did you?

Please post the full text of that error message. I would also like to add that Ubuntu 8.04 is a very old OS to be using with a Windows 7 capable machine. Ubuntu 8.04 may not have compatible drivers for that newer hardware.
