Upon upgrading to 14.04 I get a blank orange screen after login. I must do ctrl-alt-f1 and then run unity from the command line. Also, when unity starts up, there is nothing on the top bar. no menu or other items.

This happens when I have a single vga monitor plugged in.

However, when I plug in a second hdmi monitor, all is good.

My motherboard is an asus a88xm-a and I do not have a video card, just using the mobo connections.

Sounds like a graphics issue, please post the output of:

lspci | grep VGA

Update: Sometimes If I wait unity will startup after a few minutes. Anybody know why it takes so long to load up? Not sure if it will repeat this behavior
