Hello friends. As much as I like Unity, I am finding that the animations for applications that need attention to be quite a bummer. The icons get a highlight (which is hard to see unless you use the default size, see bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1309739 ), sure, and they also wiggle, sure. Thing is they only wiggle for all but a second.

What would make a huge amount of sense would be the applications initiating a re-wiggle, or perhaps wiggling (or pulsing if you switched it via unity tweak tool) consistently until that application received attention.

I looked through dconf but did not find anything that looked relevant. Is there a way to adjust these things in Unity? All search results yield unanswered threads and dead end Google lookups...

Through further conversation it sounds like this isn't really possible. I filed a bug in this regard after discussing the issue with a developer.

Feel free to +1 it if you agree that the notifications in Unity need to be refined. :)
