I have been using linux (mostly Ubuntu and Mint) off and on for several years. I am now in a role with a public school district and have been asked to find a solution:
We would like to track students time and activity as they enter the library. The students have an ID card with a barcode on it so they could use that to log in. Is there any programs already written in linux that could be installed on a standalone system that could handle such a task?
I have done some general searches and found a few options that might work but I would like to hear from the ubuntu community directly.
I'm not afraid to do a little command line entries and could even write a script with a little refresher.
let me know what the options are.
Thanks,
Todd
