Monitor display positions are lost after login out

I have been experiencing a very annoying bug with Ubuntu 14.04. It happens I usually use an external monitor on my laptop, and I need to config the external monitor on the left and the laptop monitor on the right, but this is lost after I logoff the gnome session or reboot. So I have to set this up every time I login.

Does anyone know a work around or maybe the place where Gnome stores this configuration?

In time, I'm using gnome-shell and that does not seem to happen with Unity.

I'm having the same problem but am on a desktop with dual monitors. Many others are having this problem from what I've been reading.

No. That's something we haven't need to do anymore for a long time
