Xubuntu 14.04 up to date. New to Xubuntu. Just want FF icon on desktop as shortcut.

Don't have Xubuntu on my PC but I think you just drag the menu item onto the deskktop

Or you can right-click on an empty area of the desktop, select 'add launcher' from the menu that appears, and type 'firefox': on my machine it then auto-completes the fields for the shortcut.

Just right-click on Firefox in whisker menu and you see three options: Add to Favourites/Add to Desktop/Add to Panel. Choose the one you want.

Mine shows as "create launcher"
