Hey guys!

Since XP is done and my desktop will become a security threat in a few years, I've decided to install Linux on it. Thing is, when I install, it never goes past the loading screen. When you press the up arrow, you can see the scripts used and this is what I get indefinitely:

Any idea what's wrong?

By the way I ran a Memtest and nothing came up, so no RAM problem...
I have tried the latest Ubuntu, Ubuntu10.04, Ubuntu8.04, Mint and Lubuntu (both the latest).

The hard disk has errors.

It might be possible to work around them, but you're probably better off replacing the drive. Even if you get it working now, there's no guarantee it won't fall over later on.

Ok thanks. I'm running SeaTools right now, see if it can fix that but yeah it is an old drive so I guess it's dying.

Thanks for the help!

Word of caution: Don't forget to take back-up before you try to even repair your HD.
