Hi there
Thought I would take Lubuntu 14.04 for a spin on an old ******* 7 laptop and it's great! Really flies!!
One minor issue is that Grub presents various options at boot-up including the ******* recovery partition. However, the primary partition to log into the OS is missing
I have tried updating Grub but it still doesn't recognise anything new
Grateful for your thoughts
I have attached a screen print of the harddisk setup for info
Cheers
R

give boot-repair a try it should find it and correct grub , you can get it here. (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair)
you may also want to try grub-customizer info found here. (http://www.enqlu.com/2014/04/how-to-install-grub-customizer-40-in.html)
