I am trying to replace winxp on an HP netbook with an atom processor and 1 gb RAM... When i attempt to launch setup (always using 32 bit) of crunchbang, zorin 6, lubuntu 13, or any other, the installation will always freeze. i am at a loss since there is no information on the screen. if I restart the netbook, it will load into windows just fine.

What information can i gather and how do I get it? I am still new to the world outside of windows.

i am using a usb drive. there is no disc drive or ethernet port on the netbook.

lubunu 13 gave this message: drm_kms_helper: panic occurred, switching back to text console.

The question is: Which information do you have for us?

Which HP? All hardware details, please.
How is the disk partitioned?
BIOS/ UEFI?
...
...
and everything else you find relevant.
