Will xubuntu 12.04 still be updated for security now that 14.04 has been released?
I was under the impression that xubuntu 12.04 LTS would only be updated for 2 years,
thus, one should upgrade to 14.04 now as 12.04 LTS ( for xubuntu ) is outdated.

I would like to keep 12.04 for a few months and then go to 14.04

Wikipedia says 3 years for Xubuntu. I'd sorta guess the Ubuntu parts would be supported for 5 years but I wouldn't bet on that.

I thought the 3 years of support for LTS started with 14.04 and
12.04 LTS was only for 2 years.

Xubuntu 12.04 has one more year of support; 3 years total.

I'm not sure if 14.04 will get 3 or 5 years support, but it doesn't really matter to me as I tend to clean install every 2 years, about a month after a new LTS version arrives.

It will in fact be supported for 3 years.
