12.04 Live DVD freezes once loaded.

Hi all,

I have just built myself a Box:-

Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3
AMD FX 8-core processor
Nvidia graphics via HDMI etc etc.

When I try a very recent 12.04 Live dvd, upon finally loading it just freezes. Screen appears but the mouse is just stuck in the middle. Also it cannot connect to the internet. It tries a few times then gives up.

From the UEFI help page I have tried UEFI only - UEFI and Legacy and Legacy only. Apart from the varying start screens it always ends frozen.

Looking around for another live dvd all I could find was a version of tails running Tor.

Shoved it in the drive and it loaded fine. Connected to the net, mouse working OK. Tails was loaded under Legacy only.

Any help or ideas would very much appreciated. Thanks


PS Oh, forgot, I did try 14.04 as well and got the same results.

Hi,

Anyone out there who has experienced this problem? Pretty please.

Even tried "nomodeset" and the final results were the same, just in a lower resolution.
