Changing desktop background to use color

How do I change the desktop background to a particular color rather than use some wallpaper ? When I bring up Appearance and I choose "Colors and Gradients" I do not see any way to specify a particular color. Instead I get 3 choices, all slight variations of blue. Surely there must be some means to set a particular color of one's own choosing.

You choose the actual colour in the box at the bottom left.
