Hello guys,

I installed my first ubuntu linux via dual-boot, with alongside windows 7. Now I need to reinstall ubuntu, but I'm not sure how to do it. Are there any things I should worry about first? If anybody has done this before, please, tell me your experience.
Thank you

You can reinstall without major problems I believe. I would go for 14.04 though, it has a better user experience and more up-to-date repositories. I don't see this will cause big issues. Just try.

Thank you very much :D. I was afraid of losing the data on win7, but I will try. Although I would like to try 14.04, I have to stick to the 12.04, because of the softwares I am using.

I know several with Windows 8 have had issues with any of the auto install options. Windows 8 may revert to its always on hibernation or fast boot.
But if it just says Ubuntu and does not mention Windows do not use any auto install options.

Better to use Something Else and choose the same / (root) partition as you currently have. Same for /home if a separate partition, but do not check the format box.

You really should have a full image backup of Windows and a Windows repair Cd or flash drive.

The vendor recovery DVDs are just an image of your drive as purchased. If you have housecleaned a lot of cruft normally included, run many updates with many reboots, and added software you may want a full back up.

I have 1 laptop on 1204 because it is stable and everyhing works and support is still possible and another one on 1404. Wait until all bugs are fixed. Go read all the problem people are having with 1404 ranging from printer connection, camera connection, bootup etc.
