Hi all,

I'm currently on Porteus 3.0 Mate but I'd like to move to Ubuntu cause I think that it's better to begin with Linux world (yes I'm a newbie :P ). So I tried to download versions from a windows laptop but it doesn't work (Windows, you know...). Then I tried from my desktop on Porteus but all the files I downloaded are corrupted (i checked the md5sum). Do you know what I could do?

Thanks

(ps: sorry if my english is not perfect, actually I'm french :P )

Have you tried downloading via bittorrent ? They tend to be more reliable but you would need a bittorrent client to do this.

There are different flavors of Ubuntu, from heavy on resources to lite. Are you choosing the right one?

Try downloading from here for Ubuntu, this for some reason this has solved my corruption issue in the past.

Are you aware of these?

I've tried several time with 14.10 and then with LiveLinuxUSBCreator / 13.10 but seems that the kernel is corrupted or away all time. I just discovered that Mate has uGet so I try with torrent and I keep you up :D

Edit: about 2 hours remaining..

Well I have a new problem: I have the file on my Desktop but actually I can't do anything with that cause it is a read-only file. Do you know how to change that please?
Thanks ;)
