View Full Version : [ubuntu] How to install Ubuntu 14.04 from a USB drive

As you can see in picture my download is about to finish, so i wanted to know how do i install Ubuntu 14.04 from a USB drive.
>Inb4 I'm trying to mount the *.iso image on the USB, that's where i'm stuck at.
>Currently using Linux Mint 16

The download page ('http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop') has USB creation and installation instructions. Please check it out.

PS: There is no need to "mount the *.iso image on the USB", not sure why you'd want that.

To create a usb media with the iso, use a program like "startup disk creator", or unetbootin. Even dd would work if your media is perfect. Reboot from the usb, and you may try or install Ubuntu.

unetbootin is pretty gud.just go,on with it and choose the default option during usb boot and it will run automatically...and then install it on the hard drive.But first make the usb bootable with the 14.04 iso....:D
