In fact the Ubuntu 14.04 x86_64 installer says the hard drive is blank and has no partitions. The exact windows version is 8.1 with update 1. The hard drive in question is a Sata 2 drive being ran in AHCI mode and is a Western Digital 500 GB drive and the MOBO is a MSI 760GM-P23(FX). There is a second problem wireless lan is available to computer and wired lan is unavailable and wireless lan does not work. It asks for password, but never connects. wireless lan adapter is RTL8188SU.
