I'm trying to upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04: (Main server)
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade && sudo apt-get autoremove
update-manager –d
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Software updater: No updates available

Updates are not universally available on all servers at the same time.
You should generally wait a few days as the servers are getting hammered right now and a download that could take a few minutes any other day could easily take an hour or more on "release day".

Why do you not use Software Updater?
http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/upgrade
You could also try the command
do-release-upgrade
I am not sure what update-manager -d does but I think that it prompts the Update Manager to check is an Upgrade to the next release is available.
There is no rush. 140.04 will be with us for a long time. And many people will be trying to download and upgrade at this time. The servers will be slow.
