trying to get rid of default tiles

Just installed wmaker on top of ubuntu and there are 2 tiles that came by default that I cannot remove. How can I remove these tiles? When I try to maximize windows, the tiles occupy the space and I cannot fill the entire screen. Please help. Thank you.

I don't think you can remove the 'desktop' & 'Preferences' menu.
But try to see if you can use the 'Preferences' menu to set the Windows to cover those 2 icons.

I used Windowmaker a year back in Debian and that's what I can remember.
