I've got an ASUS EeePC 1225B (with a C60 processor / Radeon HD 6290) as per http://bit.ly/Re8zHG

I've been trying to get a fully functional version of Ubuntu on it, and I'm struggling. With any of the Ubuntu variants, across any of 13.04, 13.10 and 14.04 (Beta), in either 32 or 64bit, I am seeing random but easily reproducible freezes when running on battery. They do NOT occur when running on mains power. Interestingly, this problem does NOT seem to be present when I run with the Live CD/Installer (that I use from a USB Key).

This raises some interesting questions about what is the difference between the Live CD environment, and the "normal" environment. Is this something to do with Kernel configurations, or something else? How do I debug this? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as my youngest daughter would really like to use Ubuntu without a power-cord!
