Did you checksum the downloaded ISO for faults?

I think Radeon's also use nomodeset.

I have nVidia and always have to use nomodeset to boot until I install nVidia's drivers.
But once I did get to a screen like that and was able to right click and if offered to change screen and from that I was able to get to system and click on software to install correct proprietary driver.

At grub menu you can use e for edit, scroll to linux line and replace quiet splash with nomodeset.
How to set NOMODESET and other kernel boot options in grub2 - both BIOS liveCD & grub first boot ( also UEFI with grub)
