If people don't change their desktop often there would be nothing new to show each month. Unless a lot of different people would be posting in this thread, but that's not the case (anymore) :P Well anyway here is my contribution. Kubuntu 13.10 on a dual monitor setup. btw nice desktop mattlach, can't beat triple monitor setup ;)

Pondering further, may I suggest Appreciative April, Active April or even (might be controversial) ArsenalFailToWinPremierLeagueAgain April!!

Maybe it is named after Emperor Augustus, for which the month of August is name after?

Let's see if I can guess this right. Judging by the wallpaper, Crunchbang, running Openbox, with a custom tint2 config with system tray, custom icon theme (I don't recognize), and conky with a custom config?

I finally got around to updating my hardware, so thanks to my new GeForce GTX650 video card and a DVI-to-MiniHDMI adapter I was able to hook up my third monitor (all 3 are Dell 1908FP). This gives me 3840x1024 desktop - plenty of real estate for my needs!

After a brief stint with Windows 7 again in which I got a corrupted explorer.exe which prompted me to re-install just to have my online activation fail I decided to tell MS to go away (in colourful 4 letter words) and I am no rocking the 14.04 flavour that has so far given me the least issues:

I like the spanned bacground!

I wanted to do something similar on mine (Three monitors, 20" 1600x1200 Dell 200FP Portrait - 30" 2560x1600 Dell U3011 Landscape - 20" 1600x1200 Dell 200FP Portrait) but I couldn't make any of my pictures work on that wide aspect ratio. That being said, my 4960x1600 is a somewhat unusual aspect ratio. Yours looks fantastic.

I only use my own photography on my desktops, and the one image I found that cropped well to that size, came out a little blurry at that resolution, so I opted against it.

Here's mine reposted from above:

Here's a shot from a few years back of what I mean with my three monitor setup:

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7145/6663592717_ea3020d8ec_b.jpg

At the time I was booted in Windows, which I pretty much only use for games, a rare occurrence these days, but I still enjoy a game of Civ on occasion.

The Distro is GobangOS an Openbox distro based on Ubuntu -> http://sourceforge.net/projects/gobangos/

The conky is called colors, but is one of the conkys theme that this distro have (have a tool called conky-changer)

The icons is anycoloryoulike , and an tint2 theme.

gtk-theme DebianRed
Style Light-industry
Icons Nuvola theme (a lot of the xfce4-panel icons are personalized ones, the screenshots don't show the icon set very well).
Default Font URW Bookman L Demi Bold 11

2 Desktops running on Debian 7 (Wheezy) XFCE (with gnome-shell/fallback installed alongside the basic xfce install).

First is xfdesktop with a "customised ubuntu-conky" and screenlets, the screenlets clock and ringsensors are set up to overlap the conky (which puts its border around them). gdevilspie keeps the conky below all windows and the screenlets are set as normal windows (no above or below settings activated, keeps them above the conky but will drop them below other normal windows)

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30874719/UF/1_xfdesktop_thmb.png (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30874719/UF/1_xfdesktop.png)

Second is the Nautilus desktop which appears after a toggle switch, on the xfce4-panel with the workspace switcher (or via an easystroke mouse gesture), is operated.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30874719/UF/2_nautilus-desktop_thmb.png (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30874719/UF/2_nautilus-desktop.png)

Third is after a wmctrl script is operated to shift the nautilus desktop down half a screen (this is all over 2 monitors, both are 1920x1080).

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30874719/UF/3_both-at-once-pt1_thmb.png (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30874719/UF/3_both-at-once-pt1.png)

Last is after the another wmctrl script has shifted xfdesktop down half, nautilus is reset to fullscreen with a mouse gesture, and the desktops are toggled to put xfdesktop in front again.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30874719/UF/4_both-at-once-pt2_thmb.png (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30874719/UF/4_both-at-once-pt2.png)

Check the screenlet clock seconds hand for screenshot timings ;-)

If you're wondering why anyone would want 52 workspaces; changing the workspace is set up, through a memory resident wmctrl script, to change the background wallpaper as well on changing to the next workspace.

Now all I need to do is find enough widescreen wallpapers to fill about 80+ more spots, only got about 8 of the 52 spots per desktop filled so far :P

Thanks ,XFCE runs very well, but I have plenty of resources and I like to have an alternative desktop use. E18 is not ready for 14.04 , the Gnome Shell 3.10 is my least favorite so far. A minimal installation + XFCE and not Xubuntu would be pretty fast on older hardware, but it depends on what programs you add.

Ubuntu 14.04 with my own attempt at a theme.

The conkys are my own project called Conkybots. They are interactive meaning that they respond to mouse events such as mouse-over and click. You can find an earlier version at conkybots.net if you are interested.

Just installed Xubuntu 14.04 and decided to try and make it look like Android 4.2 for some reason:

Hope someone out there like it!
Cheers all :)

Here we go, left and right screenshots.. Didn't feel like gluing them together..
BTW, the city is Taipei, Taiwan. I took the photo on top of Elephant mountain. There is a hiking trail to get to it from the city which gets you up top in about 30mins.
Its one of my for sale photos, so I apologize a head if anyone wishes to ask for a copy. But I can not.

Anyone know of any good websites for dual monitor setups? I looked on deviant art and tried it, it didn't work.

Doesn't really seem to be any good solid ones these days. Just google dual monitor background and you get a list of a bunch of cheesy ones that really just want to spam advertisements at you. .But never the less you can find a few good wallpapers..

Because there are so few wallpapers with high enough resolution and sharp enough to look good at my 4960x1600 (heck, my 12.3MP Nikon DSLR is only 4288x2848) I usually wind up selecting a few related images for a good fit, firing up Gimp, scaling images to fit each monitor perfectly, and then centering them, so they align to each monitor.

That's how I wind up with mine:
