Hey
Been thinking about trying to strip my asus eee pc 701 4g and getting a new motherboard. Not entirely sure about where to start with looking for the correct motherboard. Anyone tried this or heard of anyone that has attempted this?

Thanks

Nope.
The cases, cooling, power are all specifically designed for a specific system.
You might fit a raspberry pie inside - but it would be much slower.
$199 Acer 720p chromebook is over 15x faster than what you ahve today.

I'm saying this as I search for a replacement to my Asus Eee 1008H. Ubuntu does run on the Acer 720, but I just can't get used to the terrible keyboard. The power button is where the delete key belongs. I've hit it at least 15 times today.

Can't help with 4G, except that something like a mifi is available from almost every cell data provider for $10-$40/month.
