You have not given enough information to assist.

go here
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair

download and burn a cd or usb drive and reboot with the utility.
Likely you can repair the problem.
No guarantees, but it is a very useful utility. Saved my butt.

Here's the problem, I've already tried Boot Repair and it won't d/l. Something about the sources? I'll try d/ling it again and see. I can't burn it while using a LiveCD which is what I'm using now.

For more info ask questions.

I have a WD 1t USB driv with my OS on it. I've installed trying to install it to the partition and the MBR and had no luck either way.

The reason I have this problem is because my Xbox reformatted my whole drive to FAT16, go ahead and laugh. Anyway, it's partitioned back to ext4, with swap partition and an NTFS partition for later use.

Prior to this I would have boot probs, but grub-imageboot use to fix it, so this is a totally different issue.

Like the first I gave all the info I have, if you've seen this error: {Boot error: . invalid extent.} how did you fix it?

Google shows this solved thread.
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1997316

Some user named oldfred suggested a smaller / partition when it was very large. :)
