I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 on an old computer (used to have windows xp). Every time I start up it goes to The system is running in low graphics mode, I have spent the last 3 days trying everything people have said to get it working. It is a PowerSpec computer and has a s3 unichrome pro video driver, so naturally when I tried to install Nvidia or AMD/ATI drivers it didnt work. Some of the other suggestions were go to /etc/X11/xorg.conf and edit it, my problem here is there is nothing there. If there is something I need to type in to download the unicrome drivers I have no idea what it is. I have downloaded the driver onto a flash drive but it was not a .exe it was a .diff, I have no idea how to navigate to the jump drive except using cd [path] but I dont know the path and even if I did i still run into the problem of the file not being an .exe.

Can't you convert file types?
