Counter-strike 1.6 and WINE

So... ubuntu's working fine, and so is WINE. Right now, I pretty much use it just for mIRC. But I've tried four times to install steam and Counter-strike 1.6, and failed every time. I eventually got around the steam updating stuck at 26% bug, and steam loaded, but when I had steam start downloading, it just said installing (instead of like downloading 35% etc. in Windows). It stayed like this, so eventually I just closed steam, only to have it not open again. I reinstalled Wine, and I'm gonna have another go at installing CS.

So, my question is, is there a tutorial somewhere for installing CS 1.6 and steam on the newest wine and ubuntu? I'm getting CS withdrawal and I need some relief. Thanks.

how can i make a ubuntu server, cs 1.6?

I am an italian student who decided to start using ubuntu a few months ago.
My knowledge of English and linux isn't excellent.

I am using Ubunto 10.04, and i would like to start play wow(wtlk) on my new pc (acer extensa 5635).
I got wine 1.3 version. every time i start "wow.exe" i find this error:

"Failed to find a suitable display device.Exiting program"

Following the installation guide i find some problems with DRI.

Typing the command "glxinfo" this is the result:
