I can go to System Settings -> Keyboard -> Layout Settings -> [+] to use different keyboard layouts. I can also use custom/unknown keyboard layouts (e.g. workman layout) according to the instructions posted at http://askubuntu.com/questions/314180/how-to-install-workman-layout-in-ubuntu. There doesn't seem to be very much information on making these two things interact, though - is there a way to add new keyboard layouts such that the keyboard layout selector GUI actually displays them, and allows me to switch easily, e.g. via selector in the gnome panel?

Thanks
