2006-07-20 Development Releases: Ubuntu 6.10 Knot-1 (http://distrowatch.com/3581) http://distrowatch.com/images/icon-large/ubuntu.png (http://distrowatch.com/ubuntu) The first development CD image of Ubuntu (http://distrowatch.com/ubuntu) release 6.10, code name "Edgy Eft" (http://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20060424#1), has been released for Intel x86, PowerPC, and AMD64 platforms: "Welcome to Edgy Eft Knot-1, which will in time become Ubuntu 6.10. Knot-1 is the first in a series of milestone CD images that will be released throughout the Edgy development cycle, as images that are known to be reasonably free of showstopper CD-build or installer bugs, while representing very current snapshots of Edgy. You can download it here, for Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Edubuntu and Xubuntu respectively." Read the full announcement (https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel-announce/2006-July/000164.html) and visit the Edgy Eft (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/EdgyEft) wiki page for more details. Three types of CD images (also BitTorrent files) for all three architectures are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/edgy/knot-1/); here is a quick link to the edgy-desktop-i386.iso (http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-cdimages/edgy/knot-1/edgy-desktop-i386.iso) (679MB, MD5 (http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/ubuntu-cdimage/releases/edgy/knot-1/MD5SUMS)).

Haha, it is a little rocky, but I don't know how it compares to other earlier releases. No show stoppers. All in all, its very nice.

Will there be any unofficial screenshots to be made available? I'd love to see some, partly because I really don't have the time or resources to download and install a new system (on a different partition of course).

Btw, congratulations to yozef. You're name is in red now. :D
And I like your avatar. Does that happen to be Dapper Drake?

Before trying Edgy please read this :

Don’t use Edgy as your primary (desktop) OS / helping testing

It seems that there are now "unofficial" screenshots of Edgy Eft Knot-1 available. Thank you tseliot for posting the link in your blog:

It also called my attention to the fact that a Desktop CD verson is available for download. I just presumed that the only download version available was the text-based installer. silly me. :D
