A folder... but all folder's aren't plastic, most are paper/paper board-like and aren't see through... There are a lot of different kinds.
Japanese: ホールダー... しかしホールダーすべてはプラスチックでない、ほとんどはペーパー、ペーパー板のように、によって見るべき でない... 多くの異なった種類がある。
^^Did that make any sence what-so-ever... I know absolutley no japanese. :D and I was bored so I thought I might try!^^

An A4, plastic, single-document, wallet-style, document-protection folder ?

In my country, we call this a PAGE PROTECTOR
;)On the other hand, it does seem to satisfy the definition for the word FOLDER except that it is not large enough in capacity to handle more than a few pages, therefore, I would still call it a page protector :D

I thought a page protector was a thin plastic pouch the size of a peice of paper, like a plastic sleeve...

Well, typically yes ... more like a plastic slieve that doesn't open on the side like this one does. But this one still qualifies because it appears to only accept a very small number of pages (purely conjecture, but it looks like more would cause it to deform), and it protects the pages from the elements. A folder, typically is built with some kind of expansion folds at the bottom (though not always), and is most often made of a material that isn't as weather-resistant as this appears to be.
On the other hand, this one doesn't have binder holes punched in the edge, so ... perhaps it's a folder crossed with a page protector. So maybe it's a "Foltector" or maybe a "Prolder"? Hehe I make me laugh. ;)

It seems to come from TNT.
Phone them up and ask what they call it. :-)

Gstubbs43,
That's interesting of you to post in Japanese, too. As I was also looking for the Japanese term for this thing.

If it fits a 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheet of paper I would call it a plastic file folder :) . Why are you trying to find its name? (just curious) :-k

Stew2,
I'm applying the Getting Things Done system and am making a folder filled with these clear plastic things. The name will determine where in the alphetical order it will go.

I'd go for that too, it's a plastic document wallet.

But isn't a wallet really a billfold?

I'd go for that too, it's a plastic document wallet.
After looking at the first picture closer I notice that it only opens on 2 sides? If thats the case I would change my answer to document wallet as well instead of a plastic file folder as a file folder opens on 3 sides. :D
Cheers,
Stew2
