You can also add search engines in Opera. Tools/Preference/Search

It's still on the defaults for me. I never use it anyway, since I prefer going to the sites themselves. I get the feeling it will be like the Bookmarks Toolbar Folder. For a long time, I tried to kill that folder off entirely, ending up frustrated that Firefox wouldn't let me delete it, despite the Bookmarks Toolbar being disabled. In the end, I just decided to start using it after having the folder sitting there doing nothing for so long.
