Was Win8 preinstalled or anything?
Is secure boot enabled, maybe?

This might help

as well as this

Of course I don't know who makes "MY PC", so more info can be helpful.

Welcome. The best way to get help is to start with a thread title that describes your problem. 99% of people here need help. That's why they're here. ;)

I have taken the liberty of changing the title of your thread to something that might attract a little more attention. If you would like to change that to something even more descriptive (like adding which version of Ubuntu you are attempting to install) let me know and I can change it for you again.

You might like to have a read of the third link down in my signature. Good luck.

... the post in your sig did not help

Not here, perhaps, but might help you give the appropriate information next time you post a support thread. ;)

To this point you still give no indication of what release you are using, nor the flavour.

Are you using the 64 bit version?
Did you install Windows 8 or did it come pre-installed?
What model Toshiba? Some older one's did have major issues.
Have you tried different USB ports, some have had issues with USB3 or just some ports work where others do not.

Brand of flash does seem to make a difference. One user's experience liked 32G Sandisk

Some motherboards (Gigabyte) also do not boot flash drive if flash drive is over 4GB. May be a similar issue?
