Dear fellow and hopefully more experienced Ubuntu users.

I have recently installed Ubuntu on my macbook pro 15" 6,3 following instructions mostly from this link: ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1563565

The installation went fine, and I had solved much of my issues with my hardware. Though after finishing the install I decided to run the apt-get dist-upgrade. It seemed to be updating fine until near the end where the screen froze up, with mostly black allover the place and I could see the app bar. Then I decided to manual shutdown since I had no access and frankly no vision to see where I was clicking.

After the boot, it said error but booted fine. The thing is the keyboard and mouse stopped working completely. I tried booting in recovery and still, the menu comes up but I cannot use the arrows to command the menu... I know it isn't my keyboard since it works in OSX AND the keys work in GRUB.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
