I installed Linux a few years back on a Dell for my girlfriend, she has a new iPhone and wants Windows back so she can manage iCloud, iTunes etc. I used Gparted to format the disk, flagged for boots, then Unetbootin to create the bootable drive. Upon reboot, the blue screen appears with only the 'Default" option, which counts down to 10 secs and repeatedly cycles this countdown. Only "Tab for options" which displays "/ubnkern initred=ubninit" is the only other option available. I've found a few related post but none mention a specific fix, some say Unetbootin is troublesome in doing such. How can I successfully get this to USB to boot to install W8?

Are you trying to clone from a Windows 8 DVD to a USB pendrive?
