the title basically explains my problem, but there is one more thing I want to add to it: SOMETIMES it helps if I pause the video before exiting fullscreen.
When I get the blank screen I hit Ctrl+Alt+F1/F2/F3/F4/F5/F6 (depends on how many times it happened) and then I type "unity restart" (after logging in of course) and hit Ctrl+Alt+F7. So I have this problem since last year and it drove me crazy so I decided to post this thread
