I am starting a Linux-based business. I have created an Ubuntu sub-distro, and I have a website and Facebook page.

What are some things I need to do for this to be successful?

I mean Linux-related things. Not business advice.

What does "Linux-based business" mean? It's hard to give advice without knowing the relationship of Linux to the business.

Installing Linux on peoples computers, Linux maintenance and support.
This would be aimed at people who are not computer literate, like my grandma.

Do not break the Free and Open Source licencing policies.

Know what your costs are.

Charge more.

Don't forget that your salary is a cost. Otherwise, you will be working for free.

What market research have you conducted? How do you know anybody wants the service you propose to offer?

I know that most of the people in my area are fed up with Windows (viruses, cost of virus protection, slow computer & crashing)
Me being one of the only people who knows how to work with Linux systems, I figured I should jump on this opportunity and help people out.

How do you know this? How many people? How much are they willing to pay? Will you charge annual support fees?

There's a long distance between "people seem fed up with Windows" to building a viable business for years to come. Just a warning, marketing will be your largest cost.
