I am doing this post as a record of my install of Ubuntustudio 13.10 on a new Vizio CT15-A5 laptop.
At this point I have found that the way to the BIOS settings is by repeated pushing of the F2 key. Just pushing and holding the key won't work. Had to go to Vizio support to learn that as they don't publish much technical info. Most support FAQ answers start.."Go to Windows Settings control panel...".
The system is built around an Intel I7-3517U with Intel HD 4000 graphics. At this point I have not attempted to install Ubuntu to the 256G SSD drive. I am planning on replacing the installed drive with a new drive later this week. Then I will install as a Ubuntu only system and save the delivered drive for warranty issues or resale if I decide I don't like the results.
At this point it is running nicely as a live session from a USB drive. As it first booted the audio controls were not right but after about 300 Mb of updating it is now good. I haven't tried the HDMI yet so I can't say whether the HDMI sound is up. Microphone is good. Web cam I haven't tried. Some of this stuff is heavy lifting so I am waiting for the full install before worrying.
The only major issue is that the WiFi seems to drop frequently. I think there may be an issue in those drivers.
I can't seem to set the clock time, and it's not synced to the mobo clock which I did set, but haven't spent time on that.
Touchpad support seems good and I already like the touch pad more than most others I have used.
Haven't tried bluetooth yet.
New mSSD is due Wednesday. Any Ideas on tasks to do before I try full install?
