So I got a new computer with Win 8 preinstalled on it. I wanted to dual boot that with Ubuntu so I created the live USB, allocated enough space for it on the hard drive, and then proceeded to install Ubuntu from the "something else" option after booting it from the USB. I formatted the space properly, but during the installation process, grub wouldn't install.
I then went back to Windows and turned off "secure boot" as well as "fast start-up". When I went to boot the USB, I got to the screen where it let me select to Try or Install Ubuntu. Clicking on any option now just takes me to a plain black screen (without any blinking cursors or anything). I've tried this with two different USBs now (Sandisk 4GB and PNY 16GB) and still run into the same problem. At this point, I can't even get to the installation. Can anyone please help? It's kicking my butt :/
