It's a fun, free, and popular game that anyone can play and anyone can run reguardless of operating system, system stats, or internet connection. Give it a try, theres 3 gameplay modes and always plenty of servers.

I used to play in Breezy, but Dapper screwed up my 3D graphics so it runs like crap. I'm hoping that the how-to I just found to get XGL working on my GFX card will help and I can return to playing it.

I am a big fan... In particular I like the Pillbox flavour...

It looks simple but has a steep learning curve. Beware it can be addictive!!!!

Hi,

I've been a super addicted bzflag fan since the first time I tried Linux. As a mater of fact it is the reason I gave Linux a second chance way back when. The first time a tried playing it on Windows ME I was sent a Trojan virus over the net connection. Of course this was 7 years ago and security has been tightened up.

What I am getting at is...why is there no BZFlag *.deb for Ubuntu X86_64? If I made a package for it, how would I submit it for inclusion into the repo?

no disrespect, but you probably don't have the knowledge to package it if you're asking that question. Packaging is a sort of complicated process, that has to be done the correct way. You can submit a link to the source code to MOTU though, and they will package it in due time. Or if there is a debian package for it, they can bring it over to Ubuntu.

That's funny! I'm not mad at all.

I'm an administrator for a Linux distribution and the creator and maintainer of a Linux gaming site. I am fully capable of building a package, especially for a game as trivial to build as bzflag.

However, I'm new to Ubuntu so I felt I had to ask and this seemed the appropriate place to do so. I was hoping someone would have said :don't worry, we already have it and here it is!".

Don't worry, I've dived into Ubuntu documentation since I wrote this post and I'll have something soon to present.

Still laughing...
