Hi
So I just installed 13.10 with unity desktop as my default.
However, I want to use gnome 3, and was wondering, is it possible to keep only gnome and delete unity completely?
I'm kinda short on disk space and want to erase things that i don't use as much as possible.
Thanks

This thread, even though it's marked as a duplicate on the askubuntu page, does have a command at the bottom with all the packages you would need to uninstall to rid yourself of unity

Just make sure that you install Gnome 3 Shell before removing Unity. Otherwise = broken desktop. You might want to think about install Ubuntu Gnome 13.10. Get the authentic Ubuntu with Gnome 3 shell and without Unity.

Unless you are very short of disk space, leaving Unity alone does no harm. It does not execute when you use Gnome or another DE, so removing it will have no impact on memory usage.

Some packages that have nothing to do with Unity, Thunderbird, for example, are compiled against one or two Unity libraries. They expect those libraries to be available.
