LibreOffice 4.2.0...should I install the deb or wait for Ubuntu package? Thanks all.

If you have greater need to install 4.2.0 urgently then go ahead and install the .deb.
However, it will be a good idea to wait for the said version to become available in the ubuntu repositories. The software in the Ubuntu repositories is tested to work with Ubuntu versions.

Is it possible to install LibreOffice 4.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 ?

I don't how the required dependencies will be satisfied since 10.04 has reached its EOL. I don't think it will be a good idea, even if it does install.
