That blog post is from 2009. It would not be the first time and it most certainly has not been the last time that a blogger has taken a suggestion/discussion of possibilities at a Ubuntu Developers Summit and turned it into a soon to be fact. Back in those days anyone involved in the development of Ubuntu and its flavours could set up a session at a UDS and discuss whatever they liked. It did not mean that their ideas had official support.

Canonical is building an Android execution environment that will make it possible for Android applications to run on Ubuntu

If any actual work was ever done on this, then it died a death. Of course, there is nothing to stop an Android app developer from porting their app to Ubuntu Touch.

Anyway, this is a subject more suitable for the Cafe section of this forum and not in a section where people can ask for assistance.

Regards.
