If I'm going to http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop select 64bit at dropdown, and press the button Ubuntu 12.04 LTS I'm downloading the file: ubuntu-12.04.3-desktop-i386.iso and this is the 32 bit version :-( I had now 3 downloads and always that happens. Do I have to select 32bit to get 64 bit version :-) or do I something wrong ?

I don't think you need to open the drop down menu. 64 bit is the default and if you just click the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS button you should be getting 64 bit. The download file has the 64 as part of the file name

I have just tested this out by going to Ubuntu.com/downloads and after doing what comes naturally I now have ubuntu-12.04.3-desktop-amd64.iso. And that I know is Ubuntu 64 bit for I have downloaded Ubuntu and its flavours many times over the years.

it works fine with 13.10 but still not with 12.04.3 ??? additional question: the file name at ubuntu-13.10-desktop-amd64.iso does this cause trouble if the computer has Intel processor >

Do you have noscript enabled? If you don't allow ubuntu it defaults to 32 bit.

Ubuntu i386 is for 32 bit CPUs made by both Intel and AMD. Whereas Ubuntu amd64 is for 64 bit and 32 bit CPUs made by both AMD and Intel.
