Hi

Check these two sites:

http://www.ubuntulinux.org/wiki/RestrictedFormats

Are there any more problems feel free to ask again!

You could refer to the Ubuntu Guide @ http://www.ubuntuguide.org but that's more geared towards warty (for now).

err... i'm not in Ubuntu right now so i can't remember exactly. i think it's System->Administration->Synaptic. key in your user password when it asks for a password. in one of the menus, there should be a 'Repositories'. that's where you can add repositories.

for repositories to add, go to Ubuntu Guide (http://www.ubuntuguide.org)

What speedy replies. Didn't expect it. Anyway I did some search on my own and I found this site http://www.apt-get.org/main/ . Am I able to add these to my list then?

In other words: it is dangerous to mix repositories.

What apps are you looking for anyway?

Most probably it's already in Ubuntu universe or multiverse repository.

Hold on folks! Hoary is still not 'officially' released and you want to add repositories? Quick way to bork your system in my opinion. Wait. For God's sake! Wait!

Yes. Hoary is not officially released. But it's already reasonably stable. Been running on Hoary since 2 weeks ago and some have been using it even longer.

Nevertheless I strongly advice new users NOT to try it.

I too have upgraded to Hoary and have nothing but praise for it. But I'd still wait on adding extra repositories. Wait!

yeah some users have been having problems with their eth0 settings getting screwed up when updating from extra repositories.
