Hiya! I've been considering creating a lightweight distro based on Ubuntu LTS, and I wanna use Firefox ESR and Thunderbird ESR for the default web browser and e-mail client, however ESR isn't available in the official Ubuntu repositories, so I may have to create a custom repository specifically for ESR, however if it's possible, assuming you can use Debian repos in Ubuntu, I could use the Mozilla Debian Wheezy repo, and install Iceweasel ESR and Icedove ESR instead, as Iceweasel and Icedove are just rebadged Firefox and Thunderbird.

Is creating a custom repo for Firefox ESR and Thunderbird ESR, or using the Mozilla Debian Wheezy repo and installing Iceweasel ESR and Icedove ESR a good idea, or should I use Firefox and Thunderbird Stable?

In what sense do you want the distro to be lightweight?
