I recently watched a video on youtube of OSCON 2013 conference.
In the 40 seconds I found something very interesting, Mr. Mark Shuttleworth admitted that one of his hobbies is beekeeping.
What do you think about this fact?

PS: I'm a beekeeper too, and if ever will think to come visit Romania maybe we can exchange experience. :) :)
I am not joking i am realy a beekeeper, .

Later Edit:
Another coincidence, Ubuntu recently turned 9 years since birth.
In 2003 I worked in a apiary of a friend and i learned beekeeping, in 2004 I became a beekeeper with my own beehives. ( Now i have my own beekeeping business )
When Ubuntu was born I started my career in beekeeping. :) :)
If i dig deeper if possible there are other coincidences.

BeeKeeping is a noble art and the bee poulations have been dwindling lately. Is that true in Romania also, Could have catastrophic effects if we lose the bees. They pollinate most food bearing plants

If the bees go, so do about 90% of us.

QUOTE from Wikipedia : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Shuttleworth

Shuttleworth founded Thawte in 1995, which specialised in digital certificates and Internet security and then sold it to VeriSign in December 1999, earningR 3.5 billion (about US$ 575 million at the time). In September 2000, Shuttleworth formed HBD Venture Capital (Here be Dragons), a business incubator and venture capital provider. In March 2004 he formedCanonical Ltd., for the promotion and commercial support of free software projects, especially the Ubuntu operating system. In December 2009, Shuttleworth stepped down as the CEO of Canonical, Ltd.

Do you think in the near future we be surprised to hear a story like that on the press or on wikipedia ?

In 2015 (2016, 2017, 2018) Mark Shuttleworth founded an NGO for the protection of bees.
Due to the pollution the number of bees decreased by 50%, 60%, 70% worldwide becoming an endangered species.

LOL, I was expecting a pun thread.
You know, "Mark Shuttleworth is a beekeeper..... because he's always buzzing."

But this version works too, lol.

Whenever I think of the reductions in bee populations, I always think of Doctor Who and "the bees are disappearing".

Anyway, it's interesting to note that the bees are still doing fine in Australia, no reduction in their populations at all. I think Australia exports bees to the rest of the world now.

I read that 60% of the US bee population was shipped to California to pollinate the almond crop.

I like almonds.

ლ(ಠ益ಠლ) But at what cost?

$280 per acre in 2010. Total almond production cost was $3900 per acre. So that was 7% of the cost in 2010. It has been rising due to lack of bees.
