I've gotten my hands on a coworker's old Sony Vaio PGC-5L2L (VGN-CR510E) and installed Xubuntu 13.10 64-bit. It works beautifully so far, except I can't seem to get the modem working. It's a winmodem of course, but tinkering with it doesn't seem to have helped. I think it's an Intel/Conexant/Smartlink modem and I've installed hsfmodem and sl-modem-dkms (also -source and -daemon:i386), but I don't seem to be getting anywhere.
