Hi,
I've moved home directories, mail, media, config out to a backed up raid - and am going to have 2 ubuntu installs on SSD (the idea being I can have a latest / dev version along side my more stable version - and only 'flip' for real when everything is stable). I'll have 3 partitions on the SSD - 2 for the installs and 1 for shared 'fast data'.
I have an external drive more than large enough to backup the SSD.
What I'd like to do if possible is somehow set up a full backup of the SSD which I can also boot from: I.e. should I loose my SSD within seconds I can just get right back to (nearly) where I was by booting in to one of the installs on the external drive.
Is this reasonably straightforward to accomplish? Are there tools which automate this? I've looked at a few candidates (e.g. mondorescue) - but just wondering if anyone has any experience doing this - or any links to any guides they'd be prepared to share.
Many thanks in advance,
Dave
